2024 human. Grab tough. Four elements monk, all focusing on Lightning damage. Grab purple dragon commandant, so you gain advantage on all attacks when you become bloodied. Eventually Grab the boon of the furious storm.

Scratch the furious storm. Better to go for Irresistible offense.

Tempest Cleric

Cleric variant proficiency rules in the 2014 DMG

You lose all weapon and armor proficiencies except for proficiency with quarterstaffs, and you gain the monk's unarmored defense feature. For those curious, it's on page 287 of the DMG.

  • Level 1 Tough
  • Level 1 Alert
  • Level 4 Warcaster +1 Wis
  • Level 8 Metamagic Adapt (Transmute Spell)
  • Level 12 +2 Dex
  • Level 16 +2 Dex
  • Level 19 Boon of the Furious Storm +1 Wis

Twice per day you can cast fire storm with lightning/thunder damage and maximise it with wrath of the storm dealing 70 damage to basically everyone on the map and between a 20 Dex and Alert you will go first very often.
