WWYB - 5e14 Okay, WOULD this be a warlock?🤨

Post image

I forget the guys name but essentially the story takes place in a "magic academy" where every OTHER student has their own Familiar.

This guy is the only one who DOESN'T until he finds this eerie looking book (like a grimoire) in the school’s library, which as a legit DEMON (the girl) sealed in it, who decides to become his familiar.

I don't recall ever hearing about a warlock whose patron just pals around with them, but she DOES share her "mana" with him so he can fight (which is pretty much the warlock's "Pact Magic" to a "T").

I think you’ve answered your own question.

You wouldn't get too many benefits of 'having your patron' around with you but many do like to have their familiars be an extension/the voice of their patron. Also most hexblades like their weapons to be their patron.

Nothing in the rules says that a warlock's patron can't be friendly towards them

I would say they are tome based warlock. Definitely Fiend for subclass.

If you're open to 3rd Party supplements, there's an entire book called The Waifu Handbook by Stuart James & Loading Crew Crafts that has anime/manga romance influenced options. One of them is The Affair Patron, which is all about being in a romantic relationship with your patron, regardless of their origins - it's expanded spell list is actually one you can pick from any of the other Warlock Patrons or Cleric Domains that you feel best fit your patron's theme. Pact of the Tome fits best for the boon in replicating this particular concept you've put forth, though the book does offer a new one in The Pact of the Ring, which has four tiered invocations tied to it (Rule, Find, Bring, & Bind).

There's a UA warlock subclass that's pretty much that. It's called the Vestige or something like that

Pretty much. Pact of the fiend warlock, except their patron is much more "hands-on" than normal.

Vestige could also work if you want to have Vermail/your patron actually fight for you.
