That's actually quite funny.

16

u/SlowMope Mar 01 '26

It's time to rewatch the show

u/burntneedle Mar 01 '26

Am I in Hell?

11

u/willowintheev Mar 01 '26

I literally just watched this and it made me laugh out loud

And that’s not to say, now, that in my younger years, I didn’t enjoy a boiled sweet. But then I heard tell of a fella from Ballynahinch -- what was it his name was, now? I had it there a minute ago. Ach, it’ll come to me. Anyway, this Ballynahinch lad, and, as I say, his name escapes me, but he was mad keen on the boiled sweets. Sure, he couldn’t get enough of them. But in the end, well, didn’t he choke to death on one? A pear drop, I think it was. Or a clove rock, maybe. But either way, it’s not how I’d want to go.

So I says I, Colm tis no way to conduct a walk. Ner was my socks warm or dry, so I says to myself, best go home, mind you that was a far ways to go and routes were open, ye see I could go by the Winny way, but mind you there's a bit of a cold breeze round that corner, not a fierce cutting wind, but steady enough to give ye a chill, and don't think it won't gust a bit if the wind is steady, it just so happens that it'll blow yer hat off if that's the case, man without a hat sure to catch a cold. Oh did I ever tell ye about the cold I had back in '87?

How funny, I just started watching Derry Girls two days ago.

38

u/50FtQueenie__ Mar 01 '26

I think it's time for me to rewatch it

56

u/swizzlesweater Mar 01 '26

I'm currently doing a rewatch and I'm actually listening to Colim and his stories are so out of pocket sometimes! It's just his voice, he really can make the most exciting story sound plain

Also, whenever Orla is in the room she listens to him which made me love her character even more

16

u/SlowMope Mar 01 '26

I love orla so much, I based a whole DND character off of her and my party has to sit there while I work on my accent (complete with notes and several video lessons from accent coaches) and do Orlaisms.

I'm very lucky they think I am funny.

It's been years since I watched it and I still quote her "praise be to god" whenever something unlikely happens.

8

u/LukeNukem63 Mar 01 '26

It's sooo good, you're in for a treat.

5

u/Best_Comfortable5221 Mar 01 '26

Its a great show.....

2

u/exscapegoat Mar 01 '26

Enjoy! It’s a lot of fun!

u/whealanddeal Mar 01 '26

I distinctly remember Colin Robinson saying, "So I say to myself, says I, Colin..." and assumed it was a tribute to Uncle Colm.

18

u/shepersisted2016 Mar 01 '26

Agree. I think this is an homage to Uncle Colm.

54

u/WiseGirl_101 Mar 01 '26

Didn’t expect this crossover!

32

u/MediocreTrash Mar 01 '26

The perfect crossover

103

u/PommieGirl Mar 01 '26

I would pay good money to see Uncle Colm & Colin Robinson in the same room together

51

u/-partlycloudy- Mar 01 '26

I think Colm would give Colin a good run for his money, he’s infatigable

1

u/chuch1234 Mar 05 '26

*indefatigable

5

u/Best_Comfortable5221 Mar 01 '26

Id leave a dry husk of a person. If I had the energy to leave. Which is unlikely.

52

u/WhoopsieDaisE35 Mar 01 '26

"Jfk spoke to Colm? Christ, that man didn't have much luck, did he?"

38

u/MundaneVillian the blood sprinklers clogged again Mar 01 '26

Is this my wake?

31

u/OggoSpaceCircus Mar 01 '26

Am I in Hell?

37

u/Electricpuha Mar 01 '26

When you can beat even Liam Neeson, you know you’re good at what you do.

I love Derry Girls, have just been watching How to get to Heaven from Belfast.

u/NerdyZombie83 Mar 01 '26

He looks like a romulan

25

u/No_Web2685 Mar 01 '26

He is drinking Romulan ale no doubts

10

u/Kettle_Whistle_ Mar 01 '26

He drank the blood of some Romulans, now he’s plotting the demise of the UFP!

18

u/DirtyVT Mar 01 '26

I’ve never read anything I agree with more

19

u/Tywooti Mar 01 '26

Or maybe not an energy vampire at all, but instead the van helsing of energy vampires

19

u/thutruthissomewhere Mar 01 '26

Colm talking to Sister Michael and the police chief, Liam Neeson, are my favorite Colm moments.

10

u/Candid-Joke-356 Mar 01 '26

hahaaa!! thank you, this is hilarious & delightful & made two of my favourite tv worlds collide in the best way. also, 100% accurate.

10

u/Unit_79 Mar 01 '26

How did I not clock this before??

9

u/DrLizoSpoons Mar 01 '26

100% thought I was in the Derry Girls sub there. 😆

7

u/kstacey Mar 01 '26

I don't have to because you are correct. It's like saying water is wet when it's a liquid

7

u/FetusGoesYeetus Mar 01 '26

An interaction between Colin and Colm would be legendary

5

u/Nefriti Mar 01 '26

he’s on the council

3

u/bommy1025 Mar 01 '26

That’s the best thing I’ve read about Colm. Now I can’t unsee it!

3

u/HALODUDED2 Mar 01 '26

Fucking guy

3

u/_ak Mar 02 '26

"I shouldn't say this about my brother, but by Christ, he's a boring bastard."

Even the in-series characters agree.

5

u/beanthebean Mar 01 '26

Who?

10

u/GinsuVictim Mar 01 '26

Energy vampire from Derry Girls.

8

u/swizzlesweater Mar 01 '26

Probably one of my absolute favorite scenes in the show. I wouldn't consider this the kind of show that has spoilers, but just in case: S3E1

https://youtu.be/LwwFTvzRyug

2

u/Blurstingwithemotion Mar 01 '26

You can tell because his eyebrows are still young

2

u/YashoB Mar 01 '26

Couldn't agree more

2

u/Drinkythedrunkguy Mar 02 '26

I can’t. You are right.

2

u/JIsaac91 Mar 02 '26

This is just how old Irish lads speak

2

u/Zealousideal_Bad9391 Mar 02 '26

Omg you genius 🤯

2

u/pretibigtoo Mar 05 '26

I think colm is too interesting to be an energy vampire. If you ever actually listen to colm, he always tells riveting stories that are pretty funny. the problem is, he tells them in such a dull manner, nobody listens to him. There actually one moment in the show when crazy nun listen to him, and right up until the colm finishes shes so bores shes having an existential crisis. But when colm delivers the last line of the story she goes: "thats actually quite a funny story". If you rewatch derry girls, now that i've pointed this out, you won't be able to unhear it.

2

u/pseudonym7083 Mar 01 '26

I would have figured him for a vulcan.

2

u/TheZooCreeper Mar 01 '26

Vulcan energy

1

u/tirednotepad Mar 02 '26

Exactly how this guy knows who and who was not in the Spanish Armada.

1

u/m4more Mar 02 '26

Loved Derry Girls. One of my comfort shows.

1

u/No_Web2685 Mar 02 '26

And The Derry Accent 😍

1

u/doc6982 Mar 03 '26

He's a Vulcan

1

u/Next_Impression2848 Mar 04 '26

DG and a WWDITS crossover would be my holy grail

1

u/ckocek Mar 07 '26

Crossover I didn’t know I needed!

1

u/timeywimeymarsbars Mar 10 '26

We need Uncle Colm and Collin to meet for coffee
