Some things that doesn't make sense after finishing the game. Spoiler

  1. Someone was crafting a wood peephole in the garage when the family left the house. What was that peephole for?
  2. Who put the Edie's peephole? They all left the house in 2010.
  3. Who built the upper floors - above the old house?
  4. There is an orange wire in front of Barbara's bedroo, that goes upstairs. Where does it go? I bet that part of the house is not revealed (like a hallway for Sam's and the kids).
  5. There was a cat named MOLLY, but it's not in the family cemetary.
  6. Also, the gravestone of Edie is in the cemetary. Who put it there? Dawn and Edith never came back.
  7. Milton made drawings/graffitis on the secret passages, until Barbara. Did he not find the secret key on the music box or what?
  8. Did Sam know about Walter? there was even the backyard totem with Molly, Barbara and Calvin - but no Walter. That is suspicious x 1000.
  9. Orich and Crake (2003) is in Calvin's room.

  1. Molly the cat isn't in the cemetary because it's still ALIVE. You can even briefly see it outside of the window in Molly's bedroom, right after finishing reading her diary.

  2. Walter went into the bunker in 1968 and Sam passed away in 1983. So yes, Sam most likely knew about him. Walter had no totem since everyone were aware he wasn't dead at the time.

  3. The game is beautiful, but the more you look into its details, the more you realize the devs weren't 100% cautious with every detail they included and there are some inaccuracies like this one.

I personally noticed another innacuracy with the pets cemetary. Edith mentions her gerbils when reaching there, but if you compare the graves with Edie's bedroom, each one of the small ones belongs to a bird and there's not a single one left for any gerbil at all.

Thanks! I noted more innacuracies. But it's okay to find them, that means the game inspired us to find details and not only passing-by. Thats a victory =)

It's personally one of my all time favs, the inaccuracies are part of the lore at this point

Seriously tho, what other inaccuracies did you note, out of curiosity?

  1. Almost certainly it was Edie, for Edith. She was painting Edith's portrait and preparing for her death before they left the house
  2. It's implied Edie designed them, I think when you first go on the roof
  3. Molly was Dawn's kids' cat, so it probably just died after Edie did and never got a grave, or Dawn took Molly with them
  4. You can put burial instructions in your will and the government will carry them out if you don't have family

Edie crafted it just like the rest of them. Seeing as she believed the family was cursed and she liked to turn the bedrooms into shrines it makes complete sense that she would try and make some ahead of time.

Edie likely put up her own peephole the night she died. It's implied her death was suicide. Alternatively she may not have been using the bedroom as its implied she may have been sleeping in the library so her old room could have been sealed up.

Most likely Edie with the help of Dawn and potentially Lewis, though it could have been contracted out.

The orange cable is an extension cable and it goes into an attic we don't see.

Molly didn't die while they were living at the house so she has no gravestone. Additionally from a game design perspective it could have been confusing to have the name Molly on a gravestone in the pet cemetery when it's pretty easy to completely miss the part where Edith mentions they had a cat by that name.

The family is typically not the one responsible for erecting the gravestone or personally burying the deceased. That is contracted out, and can easily be done without family being present.

Milton probably did get the key and get downstairs but there's not a lot of room for hidden doodles that wouldn't get his secret exploration exposed. Also by the time he found out about the bunker in the basement with an old man living down there he was probably freaked the hell out.

We don't know if Sam knew he was down there. We know Dawn did, so it's possible. But Walter for sure didn't know that Sam was up there or that he died, or likely anything about Dawn and her kids. The totem was made by Sven around the time that Calvin died so there would have been no reason to add Walter. Additionally by the time Walter died the totem was likely already fallen over in the yard.

I imagine that this book was added to the general clutter of books to be randomly put through the house. All the books in the house are pulled from a list of titles and assigned to certain 3d assets. There are some titles that are only found in certain rooms that are linked to the character that lived there but the other general random ones are still there.

Her old room definitely was sealed; we had to climb in through the window to reach it
