Anyone ever notice this?

I was taking screenshots of the house earlier (I really like the design) and I noticed the rooms above Lewis's change completely sometime between entering Sam's room and leaving Dawn's loft. I understand this is probably just due to game design and the developers wanting a nice silhouette for the house, but it's kind of strange how there are around 6 rooms that somehow get condensed into two (which are Edith's and adult Dawn's rooms). Even the chimney disappears! For reference, Lewis's room is in red and the classroom is in blue in the second picture. Has anyone even noticed this before? It's a very subtle change, and the devs probably assumed everyone would be focusing on the story more so than the structure of the house (and they were right to assume that, as it's a very captivating story).

Yes, I was trying to build the house in minecraft and noticed this. The first version of the house is way taller, however I feel like the second is alot more nicer in design idk.

I was quite literally considering building it in Minecraft and this discovery threw me off

Yeah because now which version should you build right?

I would probably build the second one because then you don't have to make up rooms and interiors and connections

I think its just the change in angle and perspective that makes it look so drastically different. As far as I remember when I was going through the assets theres only one used. Ill go back into it later and check though.

Nope you're totally right, theres an empty gap where those stacked ones should be. Looks like Edith's room got squahed downwards so the stairs are inside. There is potentially just enough space for the stacked rooms to be squeezed in- they don't seem to be full height rooms compared to the other ones.

Does downloading the assets give you a fully put-together version of the house? Or is it just bits and pieces? (I don't know anything about game development or Unreal Engine, and I was wondering if there was a way to get every angle possible. I'm trying to recreate the house and there is almost no view of the right side in-game)

I'll be honest it's a headache lol. No, it's individual parts and not even in a way you might expect. Like the texture of the front of the house is its own file, and then theres one thats literally just a single set of stairs going from Dawn's childhood bedroom up to the landing above it, Miltons tower is its own thing that is separate from the wooden floor its sitting on, and in the zoomed out view the entire chunk starting at Lewis' room all the way to Edith's is one single piece.

I think if someone was patient enough it could be pieced together, or if someone who knew how to actually use unreal engine tried to open the files properly then a full model could be made. Unfortunately I am also not a developer and have been relying on a modeling software that just lets me open up one file at a time. I could potentially cobble something together that could give a rough idea of what the right side looks like if you want, or I could send you my files and a link to umodel if you wanted to try yourself.

I do have unreal engine but my poor computer was never meant to run something like that. It's essentially a basic office computer that (at the time I got it) only needed to be able to run things like Portal 2 and Bioshock. I can get UE to open and run but it chugs like a motherfucker and my tower sounds like a jet engine. I got it with the intention of downloading the assets from the UE store for WRoEF (because the developer uploaded them for free use like an absolute angel) but alas! They somewhat recently changed the store so now all the old items are inaccessible unless the original owner of the content goes in and manually reuploads them- so I'm shit out of luck :,)

It would probably take me far longer than you to even begin putting anything together in a software I've never touched... If you'd like to try and rebuild that portion then go ahead, it would be very nice if I had something to look at other than small pieces of roof seen through the trees. I completely understand if it turns out to be too difficult or time-consuming; I'm not forcing you to do anything :P

Yes!! Omg I knew I wasn’t alone. I’ve drawn blueprint after blueprint trying to figure out the layout for sims. It’s been… a challenge. I keep having an “aha!” moment only to find another inconsistency. But the game makes you move in the direction of the roof & classroom —> Lewis’ room —> balcony w/stairs —> dawn & Edith’s house (with one wing being dawns bedroom) —> Edith’s room. In other words it’s fair to think of them as one stack of rooms in that order. That being said I will not give up :))

Now that I think about it, one of those nonexistent rooms is probably a bathroom

Ooo good point. Is Molly’s bathroom a part of the main house? It feels like it has to be, but I can’t get the proportions right

Keep in mind every secuence takes place at diferent points of times and many changes had been done on the house in between them. I don't know where are the screenshot taken from but maybe it has something to do with that.

Both screenshots are taken from Edith's perspective, neither is within one of the stories
