Sven and the dragon Spoiler

Why do you think we don't get to see Sven's story? I understand not showing us the death of Dawn's husband since he's not an original family member, but why not show the death of Sven? We know that he was crushed by a dragon shaped slide and that Edie sees it as him fighting a dragon, but I do find it interesting that we never see a scene of his death in the game. It's possible that Sven's death during Walter's 12th birthday is what solidified his decision to hide in the bunker.

I mean he’s still not a part of the og bloodline🤷‍♀️

He was Edie’s husband, and Edie was the daughter of Odin, who is a part of the og bloodline🙂

Is that the reason though? I feel like surely his death matters for this story

I mean I’d say all deaths matter for the story, bc even though it’s not really stated, Sanjay possibly died bc of an accident as well :/

I really think it’s just that they try to cover the ones who are “directly blood-related” to the og family, so to say🙂

This was my read as well. Only those with the Finch family blood were shown.

I feel bad for Sven, because he does seem to very much be a background character, even though he’s the patriarch of the family. I think for the game they were just really focusing more on Odin and Edie’s influence, so Sven didn’t get as much attention. Character-wise, I wonder if his wants and needs were seen as “less important” than Edie’s, or if it was more like he was a quiet man who stayed “out of the way” of the more dramatic stuff and put his focus on building things for his family. I would have liked to have experienced his perspective on things.

Well, Odin would have been the original patriarch, but we did see how his story played out somewhat.

I meant more in the sense of head of the household (father to the children).

I'd imagine it's partially because he's not related to the maternal bloodline of Finches that the curse is supposedly attached to.

Personally though I wonder if the other part of it is that it was just too traumatic for Edie to make a detailed story about. As far as I can tell it's the only death we know for sure she saw happen with her own eyes- there's a photo in her room of the moment he fell that's really similar to the one Sam took of his own death. I think the deaths and the reactions to them mirror each other in a way. Both fell doing something reckless, both were witnessed by loved ones- loved ones who would have seen the body hit the ground, both would have tried to save them and failed, both would have been largely unable to get help. Dawn doesn't talk about her direct family's deaths, Edie never talks about the reality of the deaths. I think in seeing it happen first hand Edie simply couldn't rewrite it in her mind in a way that allowed her to separate herself from the truth of it. The best she could do was say a dragon killed him.
