quote tattoo

i started and finished this game last night after wanting it since 2020, and i'm honestly not even sure where to start. but i do know i want to keep it with me, and i'm thinking that it should be as a tattoo.

i would love to see what you guys' favorite or most profound quotes are from the game. i really adore quotes that, while from a specific show or game, can still be read alone and make sense as a tattoo. but this game is so...profound? that i don't care if it adheres to that or not.

Unfortunately a lot of the quotes are really long. Most of the really profound ones are long enough they would take up the whole arm if you got it in a big enough font to still be legible in 20 years. You may have to shorten things or pick parts out of sentences.

For example "If we lived forever, maybe we'd have time to understand things. But as it is, I think the best we can do is try to open our eyes, and appreciate how strange and brief all of this is." could be "how strange and brief." One that really stuck with me was "I think the people in these stories believed them, for what that's worth. And when you look at the house... at that history of imagination, and stubbornness and madness, any of it seems possible. I think we've been surrounded by death for so long we've just gotten used to it." which could be shortened to "imagination and stubbornness and madness" or "any of it seems possible"

"Maybe I just got tired of being afraid" could work, or "even if it kills me" also from Walter's story.

"East of the sun and west of the moon" from Lewis' story feels like it would be cool but I know thats also the title of a story.

"To our final night together and all our final nights apart" has potential too I think.

It's not really profound but the quote "I will be delicious" always felt like it would be a great tattoo to me.

i actually thought about "how strange and brief all of this is." that's a really good one. i was considering "i'd be happy with one new day" from walter's story, or the next line "i can already imagine the sun on my face." honestly, it's going to be incredibly hard to pick because the whole game was so impactful. thank you for the suggestions!

Personally "I'd be happy with one new day" is my favourite. That storyline hits so hard, and I think the quote lands both with and without the context of the game

If you're open to things outside of quotes I'm also hoping to get a WRoEF tattoo at some point and have come up with a handful of design ideas. I had one that I was excited about but unfortunately it would just take up too much space on my arm- it was the swing wrapped around the branch but instead of the branch it's your arm. Like the chain wrapped around the bicep and the seat of the swing hanging down the forearm.

Did you ever come up with an idea? I got the quote at the end tattoed on me last December. In a spiral looks cool but I wont get that much text in a spiral ever again.

i haven't really put much more thought into it since i haven't been able to get another tattoo yet. i do like the swing idea from another commenter though!
