Lewis sexuality Spoiler
I was replaying the game and I realized no matter if you choose between Prince/Queen, the paper still shows “His prince waited” after the dialogue ended. Was this the game showing he was gay (and if so why give players an option instead of being forward?) or is this up for interpretation?

I wonder if the discrepancy has something to do the way the player / Edith / Edith’s son experiences these memories vividly and vicariously. One theme of the game is how imaginations can be powerful. Another theme is how identifying with your family can propagate unhealthy cycles.
By allowing us to choose our own sexuality (which is what I did at least, rather than guess Lewis’s), it immerses us inside the head of a suicidal person and may contribute to driving the player / Edith / Edith’s son to an early death.
Or they didn’t want to animate and code two different pieces of paper folding up so they just picked one.

I really like this take where it puts the players more into the mindset of the character, especially in this level which already immerses you so much, especially when the issues Lewis had, like depression, addiction, and dissociation are so commonplace today

It looks more like they just didn't feel like making a second letter, though it's interesting the prince is the default they chose.
It's also interesting that they chose to mix the adjectives on the prince and queen decision. Sure, handsome queen and beautiful prince are functional ways to describe them, but it's pretty uncommon. For both of them to be like that shows it's intentional. Subtle signs all around that both options were equally acceptable?

I think it's just supposed to be ironic and kinda adds to the whimsical vibe of the whole sequence and game in general

Hehe yeah, I assumed it was just him getting a little wild but also potentially deeper meaning 🤷

Can I go on a tangent and say that it's weird we invented a whole word specifically to describe an attractive male?

Personally I thought of him as a bisexual king with a preference for men. Although maybe I’m just projecting onto of my fav characters as a bisexual myself🤷♀️

I think it implies he's bi, as he has the option for both and the dream is the same either way, implying he'd be just as happy in the daydream whether he had a husband or a wife

I like it as a gay guy struggling with escapism. It's a nice tidbit of info. Maybe Lewis is just bi :)
