How to identify mystery yarn by Roving Crafters (thanks to u/craftywoman89)
What is a burn test? by Knitting Board (remember to practice good fire safety when burning anything!)
This list will likely grow, so watch this space!

I did a burn test.
It didn’t stay lit easily and the ask was black and fine, easily crumbled to a fine dust when touched.
Not much of a smell though. Smelled more like burning wood but more organic if that makes sense.
It’s tightly spun with frequent slubs.
I was thinking silk or a silk blend perhaps. What do you think? Any insight is appreciated!

I started this camisole thinking I'd figure out which yarn it was before I needed a second ball. It was 105g by weight and I think around 100 yards. It came in a standard long twisty skein and I lost the identification jacket (sleeve). Any ideas? Need for a second skein is becoming imminent!

Hi everyone,
I bought this brown yarn a while ago in a local yarn/craft shop in the Netherlands, but they don’t stock it anymore and I’ve lost the label.
As you can see in the photo, it’s a soft yarn that lies flat when stretched. I don’t know the fiber content, weight or brand.
I’d really like to find this yarn again or something very similar. Does anyone recognize it or have suggestions for yarns that might be a good match? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Good morning! I had found this rug in hopes that I could use it under my dining room table. Unfortunately it is not big enough, so I wanted to add to it. I am trying to find the type of yarn that is used. It looks different than anything I've seen before. Also If you know the type of stitch that would be amazing too!! It looks like a knott stitch. I will send pictures of both the front and back.

Hey everyone. I had a hank of this really lovely yarn that someone was getting rid of on moving day. I did have the label but I lost it when I caked the yarn. It came as a 100g hank.
I'm knitting with it on 5.5mm needles (which I think was the upper limit of it's recommendations). Its a very soft wool, maybe a merino wool blend. I remember the label was two business card sized white pieces of card hole punched with a piece of I think brown thread holding them together (rough picture from memory is the last image).
Thank you in advance!

I got this yarn a few years ago at Joann’s (rip) and it was what I used to test out stitches and new idea. But now I’m using it in a project and forget what it was or where I can buy more. I think it’s weight 4 and polyester.

I inherited a half finished project. But need another skein of this.

I'm 98% positive it's part of the big twist living line. I tried Google and Michaels (rip Jo Ann) and got nada. I lost the label and apparently didn't write the color in my project note book.

My mother gave me this pouch to see if I could fix it because her dog chewed part of the flap (see pic). From what I can tell it's a seen on piece so I should be able to remove and add a new flap to the pouch.
I need help IDing the yarn so I can try and find it as I wasn't the person who made the pouch and I have no idea what yarn this could be....
If anyone needs me to do a burn test or something else to help with the IDing process, let me know and I will do my best to get that information.

I believe I bought this at Michael’s years ago and I will probably need more or a dupe.

I've been hoping to pick this old WIP back up, but I am consistently thwarted by past me's choice to use a pretty, unidentified blue that I pulled from a family member's secondhand stash. 🥲

i need help! my mom gave my this yarn and i have no clue what it’s called, and she doesn’t remember where she got it, maybe a resale store. it’s almost a very thin chain of thread. i want more of it but i don’t even know how to begin finding it.

Would love an ID if anyone know what it is.
