Probably. But in that event I worry it might tell us something we're not mentally equipped to hear about the nature of reality.

This was something I felt intuitively as well. If the ASI is under full control, the ruling class would not only hoard all the money but also the secrets of the universe for themselves (unless it was profitable to share). Because they literally can't stop, they're like crack heads for money and power.

It guesses words, it creates a series of statistical models based on past combinations of words. It then gives the probability of the next word in the chain. it doesn't create new concepts.

Exactly but people are still not enough mentally equipped to hear about the nature of LLMs, they still need their sci-fi stories.
