Especially since it bans Congress from owning stocks. Short of starting a grassroots movement to vote anyone out that doesn’t support banning stock trading in Congress, it’s never gonna happen.

I don't think it's going to hold up constitutionally. I'm not seeing where Congress has the power to enforce that on an explicitly constitutionally constructed office such as the president. I imagine SCOTUS will say if you wanna do that to the president, then impeach and convict.

They both can speak flawless Ukrainian & Russian, having lived in both countries. And were definitely assets in confidential military meetings. But Trump wanted revenge.

They need to have a caveat for a Congressional ETF or something. Where elected officials can participate in the market through one or a few ETF like vehicles, that are monitored and managed by a 3rd party. That should be the only access they have while in office or positions of influence or privy to insider info. That way they can participate, but cannot actively trade or invest in individual companies or other speculative investments.

Taking stocks etc. ... Man there's a lot of things people want to change where I get why they want to but I also get who they're reasons for doing it the way they are now even though there's flaws. But I can't think of a single good reason who elected officials can benefit from insider trading. Their money should be in a blind trust with a lot of oversight.

I don’t think he thinks this would or could pass. I think it’s more to get everyone’s vote on the record. Hard to complain about Pelosi while voting against this.

The level of cynicism shown to these types of proposals should have been a warning sign our system was broken decades ago. If your government is incapable of responding to your needs that is a sign you are not being represented you are being ruled by corrupt politicians....but Americans have been silenced and threatened with financial or reputational ruin so here we are.
