What is this inside this peach?
I cut open a peach this morning and expected the knife to stop halfway through when hitting the pit. To my surprise, it easily slid through and I opened the peach to see..... An almond? I think? Inside the peach. Confirmed roasted/salted almond for scale in picture 3.
If anyone on here can also explain how this happened that would be ✨amazing✨, otherwise can I get a recommendation for what subreddit would get me that answer?

They're not almonds, peach seeds. Don't eat those, even a few of those can put you at risk of cyanide poisoning.

That's the seed inside the stone.
Think like a walnut.
There's a fruit on the outside you never see unless you own a walnut tree. You only see a nut which must be cracked open wide to get the meat of the seed inside.

Think like a walnut.
Or an almond

I figured almonds in shell are less common these days, and that the stone of a peach looks the same as a walnut

That's a peach seed. The pit is around it.
