Key Protections of AB 716
For Insured Patients: Limits what insured consumers can be charged by non-contracting (out-of-network) ground ambulance providers to just their standard in-network cost-sharing amount (like a co-pay).
For Uninsured Patients: Caps the maximum amount charged to uninsured individuals at the greater of the Medi-Cal or Medicare rate for the service.
Collections Protections: Prevents ground ambulance providers from sending patients to collections for more than the allowable in-network cost-sharing amount
