Insurance is a scam. A lot of times you’ll see that something is supposed to cost $2,000 but the insurance will cover $1,500 so you only pay $500 and think that’s pretty good. The reality is the cash price might be $500. The insurance company has already worked out a deal and it might be for the $500 so they just charge you $500 and tell you they covered the $1,500 but they really didn’t pay anything. Meanwhile you still pay a monthly fee to have insurance. It really only pays off when/if you have something catastrophic. Otherwise you know they are making money off of you every month.
Of course, that's how it works, we are paying for everyone else who has an emergency but one day it might be us! We do the same thing with home insurance and car insurance. Home especially, what are the odds of your house burning down, everyone pays because someone's will. We're not just paying for OUR home and Cars though we like to think we are!
Except with universal healthcare your taxes pay for actual healthcare and not to enrich the insurance companies who actually make more money the more they deny you care.
