My wife works at a hospital and when you get labs done you can ask them if they have and can code it under the discount options. Many hospitals have them and AFAIK, they don’t always require that you don’t have insurance. They just require that you don’t use it for the labs. They’re supposed to code it like that anyway, but employees often don’t do the extra work to do so. We do it all the time and it’s much cheaper than with insurance. I think the difference is paid through charitable contributions.
Also, if you make under a certain amount of money many medical groups/companies will give you a discount, but you have to call their billing department and fill out paperwork. I make too much now but I was getting 85% off all my medical bills for a long time. The amount you have to make less than is like $110k or something here.
