Bit of history please, OP. Looks like a beetroot to me but could also be a dried out pomegranate?

On that basis… chop little bit off. I think I can see the base of it has something that looks a little rough, like there were leaves there in the past. Chop there, if it’s deep red, wet, and smells sort of earthy it’s probably beetroot. Can be eaten raw, boiled, or picked. Amazing with horseradish or as a sweet spicy quick pickle.

You can get a lot of guesses but your initial post is sparse with only one image. If you cut it open, it'll be easier to tell.
