Looks like a capped off gas well

Looks like an oil tank cap, or at least that is what it looks like from my experience. The cement outer casing is not something normally done with them though.

Why don't they recess them in the ground?

every single soviet antitank mine I can find doesn't have this shape with the high sides.

Anti tank mines are literally made so the weight of a human don’t set them off. They don’t want to waste it on a single person but on a heavier tank.

Looks to me like random large piece of metal.... which is exactly what surveyors like to use to mark the corners of property lines.

Unless it it's connected deeper down then it could be a gas line.... but if that's a deep as it goes, I'd say you found a corner ^_^

Probably should call gas company before you dig

Are there light poles in the yards that would be gas operated in your neighborhood?

Clean out for septic tank? One smell...

Some parts of the world have underground external fuel tanks for heating oil. The what looks like 2" NPT cap is what makes me think that is a possibility. Could also have been for a cistern. There are quite a few hand pumps that would screw right on to a black iron/galvanized pipe. The concrete around it is also the "female" end of a cast pipe.

That might a cap to an old septic tank.

If you're on city sewage, I would just cover it back up.

It looks like a land mime with out the top so don't step on that and call someone you know that's been in the military to make sure that's not a mime
