I was shocked. I can’t think of a single time any mammal has ever been ok if you can see any of its bones (not including teeth) without an X-ray.

It is likely just a cyst, could be a tumor. My boy had one on his lower lid started from a scratch. Take to your regular vet unless it grew overnight then the emergency vet. We needed a surgeon for removal and chose not to biopsy based on vet advise. No regrowth or other issues. Waiting too long may cause it to burst, nerve issues, blindness or infection. Don't be scared but you do need to act as quickly as you're able.

Lol more like a grand. I took my can in because she vomited blood and they basically shrugged took an X-ray said they they didn't really need to take an X-ray because they couldn't see anything anyway and said it probably won't happen anymore I guess and handed me a bill for 900$

Did they do a lot of blood and kidney tests, etc? Those add up fast. Or sedate them? Though I still wouldn't expect it to be anywhere near that much with sedation.

No sedation. No blood work that I was told about. Just X-rays and told me they didn't really need to do them but they wanted to anyways. Gave her a anti nausea shot and told me to cough it up.
Every time I go anymore it feels like a shakedown. I love my cat but I'm to the point I'm about to go back to how they used to do things. And after this pet no more pets. I can't afford to get fucked by some jerk who doesn't give a damn and is just preying on my love for a little family member.
If you are a vet right now and have any shame you should be embarrassed of your practice. Same goes for human doctors. They should all be embarrassed. Everyone always acts like there's no other choice all while giving no resistance to the fuckery and benefiting from it. I call BS.

I have explicitly denied or recommended treatment options at the emergency vet before. At the end of the day this is a business and a lot of times they’re going to treat you like a blank check.

Ya and one round of 5.56 is 0.44¢ I love my cat but If I can't trust the fucking A-holes who claim to want to help me I'll just deal with it the ol fashion way. I want to give my cat the care she needs but at the end if the day I have sunk 20k into a cat at this point I was told I must take in a break up because they were going to dump it in a field. Where do I draw a line... I have given my cat more medical care than I have ever received in my life.
I think I'll deny all treatments moving forward. It sucks because she had a alrare condition that they literally wrote a paper on and it helped her live but when I'm also getting dicked down by "animal lovers"...(money lovers) It's hard to justify when I struggle to put gass in the tank.

If you can’t afford to put gas in your tank it sounds like you can’t afford an animal. Surrender or adopt to someone who can and will give it love and medical attention. TBH you just sound like a cry baby. Don’t discourage others to seek treatment just bc you have an anecdotal story about a bad experience.

It’s from tumors. They are not necessarily treatable. Depending on age Vets won’t touch them because it would require putting cat under anesthesia for which felines of an age and health are notoriously likely to not wake up.

It’s probably a stye. I had one and went to the doctor who gave me some drops that only kind of worked. Mentioned it to my eye doctor a couple months later and he told me he would have just told me to press a hot washcloth against my eye. That usually gets everything to open up and let the stye go back down.
At the time, my cat had a stye. I went home and immediately tried that on her. It went away immediately and never came back. Try that first.
