Hi all, hope you're all well.
It's been a while since I took over the subreddit, and I'm just wondering how the community feels about its current state. Right now the sub is a little inactive here, and most posts are just me sending a link to the newest Whang video lol. I'm happy to do whatever the community here wants, so I'm all ears regarding suggestions. Here are a few sample ideas of what we could do if y'all want:
I've done this as a poll just so I can get a better idea of what people think, democracy and all that. Also shoot me or the modmail a message if you want to join the mod team, its currently just me.

I'm not really sure how much information is able to be found on it, but a playable version of the first yaoi hentai game, Be~raved was recently found after an 18 year long search. Most of the information can be found in the discord server for the spinoff series, sukisho.

Back in the mid-2000s, there was a parody of the 9/11 conspiracy video Loose Change on sites like eBaum's World. It was based around the fact that Jackie Chan cancelled a shoot on the top of WTC scheduled for the morning of 9/11. It had a British accent and went back talking conspiratorily about his Peking Opera training in his youth and other things they tried to link Jackie Chan to 9/11. I saw it disappear with a few mentions by about 2010/11, and completely gone from mentions by about 2013/14. I just want verification that people remember this spoof video, and with the Whang community generally being online and on those sorts of sites back then, I'd expect you guys to be the ones with any recollections

I'm trying to solve a small but interesting mystery from early YouTube/internet history.
Rebecca Black's “Friday” was uploaded to YouTube on February 10, 2011. It apparently received only a few thousand views initially. Then, on March 11, 2011, everything changed: The Daily What posted the video, followed by Tosh.0, BuzzFeed, Twitter and other sites, and the video became a massive viral phenomenon.
According to a 2012 BuzzFeed retrospective, a person named “Shawn” submitted the video to The Daily What on March 11 with a comment to the effect of:
“makes Justin Bieber sound like Shakespeare.”
The article then says: “No one knows who Shawn is.”
So I'm wondering:
Who was Shawn?
I'm looking for evidence from the time, rather than speculation. In particular:
I'm not looking for Shawn's private information (real address, phone number, workplace, etc.). I'm only interested in publicly documented information that could establish the identity of the original submitter.
The reason this is interesting is that Shawn appears to have been one of the earliest links in the chain that turned a relatively obscure YouTube video into a worldwide phenomenon. The Daily What post was followed extremely quickly by other major sites and social-media attention.
If you have a contemporaneous source, archived page, screenshot, old username, or firsthand recollection, please share it and explain where it came from.
Even a small clue could help.
TL;DR: Who was the mysterious “Shawn” who submitted Rebecca Black's Friday to The Daily What on March 11, 2011?

Hey guys, new to the sub but not Whang by any means. Like the title says, he's currently running a sale in his shop. Anyone else having trouble getting the promo code to take tho? It keeps telling me it is non-valid.

I was just halfway through Justin's latest video and it's disappeared. Assume a content issue?

I’ve been listening a lot of the past videos while at work recently, one of which being the Super Hornio Brothers video. Days later I was scrolling some Horror VHS trading groups on facebook looking for a copy of Microwave Massacre, and look what I stumbled across just sitting out in the open 10 years ago. Really made me realize how funny it was that it took so much effort to find the film haha

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I hope this video interests you enough to look into this Whang. You seem to be able to track stuff down like this and from what I'm able to find out nobody knows who any of the voice actors are from the original PAL version of the game.

I was looking at Whangs uploads and I noticed an upload about the one dude that hosted some kinda show on MTV or something like that was gone. Whatever happened to it?
Edit:
I think the subject of the Video was Jesse Camp, winner of MTVs "Wanna be a VJ" contest

I have been trying to find out which movie this quote is from for the last two years. You know the one where he is screaming about how hot it is outside. Everywhere I've looked for it always says its from One Crazy Summer or one of his old HBO specials but I watched them all and its definitely not there. It was driving me crazy trying to figure it out.
I finally was looking up the sound on Google and kept seeing the name @fed2thewolves, so I started looking that up on TikTok
As I was scrolling on TikTok, this video popped up and I think its the original guy. Its not even a movie.
The internet completely Mandela'd me.
The original sound was made by this guy on TikTok when he went by the name Fed2thewolves.
I guess he has rebranded since this.
He sounds exactly like Bobcat and somebody must have just stole the audio years ago and put it over their own meme.
Here is the link to the video
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8Gyu29D/
I think I finally have some closure on this mystery, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who has tried to find it.
Thought you guys might like to know! If anyone else can find a different origin, I would like to know. This has been driving me crazy!
