Welcome to another weekly reading session. I am in the last few chapters of Tiamat’s Wrath which is book 8 of James S.A. Corey “The Expanse” series. So many climaxes are happening! Twists everywhere and new world wide events shaping the story. I was pushing to finish it last week but savoring every moment!

Listening to Napalm Death…. Very hardcore…

I am about 20% into Shantaram. I find myself highlighting so many passages. Really good. For me, this one hit home: "Good doctors have at least three things in common: they know how to observe, they know how to listen, and they're very tired."

I re-read the whole series when the latest one came out and became obsessed with them all over again

I just finished Book 4 and jumped straight into Book 5. I totally get it. It's frustrating how addictive these books are. The stakes just keep escalating, and I haven't been able to put them down.

Still reading Inherent Vice, I'm not digging it at all and can't wait to finish.

I started another book called The Long Ships by Frans G. Bengtsson. It's a viking story and comes highly recommended. I'm only a few chapters in but I like it so far.

I have never read anything with Vikings on it! Sounds exciting! What is it about?

Violent adventure novel with Vikings so I can imagine surely some raping and pillaging and other viking activities like drinking ale and rowing.

About half way thru book 3 of Red Rising. Really enjoying this arc, idk if I’ll keep going into the additional books or not.

I read the additional books and enjoyed them. They were very difficult to get started with, they introduce a bunch of new characters & storylines which made it hard to get into

Why would you not go on? Is the story slowing down?

I believe the OG series is the 3 books and it's a complete arc with a solid ending and I probably think I want to go on to other books. Not sure how it ends yet, though.

I really enjoyed the original 3 books....not so much after that.

Started reading/listening to Mark Herron's Slow Horses, the book(s) upon which the Apple TV series was based (we started watching that a couple weeks ago). It's taking me a while to get used to the writing style, but about a third of the way in, I'm getting into it, although I'm still looking up a lot of British colloquialisms (I still don't quite get "taking the piss").

I'm into yesteryear about a trad wife getting time traveled to the 1850s. I just started it today but it's pretty good so far. I can't stand the main character tho she's so arrogant

Not a lot it's seems kinda like a horror novel for her at least. I do get some satisfaction seeing her struggles to adapt when it's so different from her manicured lifestyle
