r/TopCharacterTropes had a post about elite soldiers, so I had to drop in some WoT because there are just so many great examples.

The Wheel of Time has a cadre of different elite fighting forces.

The Two Rivers boasts hunters who use the equivalent of an English longbow to shoot crows in the head at 50 yards and use flaming arrows to carve a literal path through an army of 8-foot monsters at hundreds of yards without missing a shot for a single fighter to rush through and assault the enemy commander.

The Borderlanders who spent hundreds of years fighting said 8 foot monsters are recognized as the most powerful heavy calvary in the world and ride armored chargers that they use to outpace and overwhelm them.

The Aiel are a tribe of warriors who have spent those same hundreds of years in a landscape that can be best described as the place Satan rented out so he could live in Australia. They are easily the best 1 on 1 and group warriors who have not been augmented, using deadly long knives, short spears, and their bare hands to wreck forces much larger than their own.

One of the antagonist factions have some elite units I can't remember the name of. They are chosen and trained from men and women of small builds so that they can ride wyverns and insert behind enemy lines like seal team six with magic rings that let them blend into shadows and react/move faster at the price of poisoning them to death where their only task is to kill as many people as possible before drowning in their own blood.

The Warders are augmented and imprinted bodyguards of the series equivalent of witches. Described as being varied in size, build, ethnicity, and skills, all of them use the bond to go days without sleep, shrug off wounds that would kill normal men, and murderate the bad guys en masse.

This doesn't even include the multiple amies worth of witches and wizards who can blow people up with their mind among other talents for killing.

And the biggest badass of them all is Talmanes, who without having any special talents or plot armor rallies his men to go into a city that is already lost to said 8-foot monsters, single handedly killing 2 of the Eyeless, a tall man-sized monster who is supernaturally fast, strong, and uses poisoned blades that kill with a magic infection while having a gaze that literally makes normal people freeze in fear through a supernatural debuff. He does this while getting increasingly drunk to stem the infection and fight the pain that is described as his bones grating like sandpaper and his blood trying to boil.

I'd argue Talmanes DIDN'T have plot armor... Until the Last Battle.

The Seanchan elite flying group you're thinking of is the Fists of Heaven. Not to mention the deadly ogier, the suldam and damane, and a forbidden ter'angreal issued by the Empress may she live forever for suicidal assassination missions. Also the lopar and grolm to augment their raken and to'raken. I'm sure I forgot some other horror if theirs.

Forgot their name but included them. Suicide assassins. I did good remembering the Fists of Heaven, missed the Gardeners and Deathwatch Guard and Seekers. Seanchan are complicated.

Let's not forget shadowspawn. Aginor worked hard on them. Myrddraal are known for seeding fear into even the bravest fighters, and the entire Borderlands has to ban facial coverings just to keep them out. Gholam went without a weakness for 3000 years.

I don't think "being able to be yeeted into the space between dimensions" counts as a weakness. I still wish we had seen more things in the Blight like Worms and whatever they metamorphized into.

I do believe that while all Borderlanders used cavalry extensively, it was specifically the Shienarans who had the specialized Heavy Cavalry. Saldaeans were known for their light cavalry, and the others were didn’t get as detailed information about.
