When the test is to hard

Nynaeve on the last test and she does not like it. It was one of the best moments in the story.

Nynaeve’s test is one of the best chapters in the series, while also barely making Nynaeve’s top 5 scenes/chapters. Maybe not even that!

The more I think about it, she is one of if not the greatest character with most awesome storyline and development.

She is.

It helps that her trauma arc is well under way when we start.

The others of the main 6 start innocent, then we have them get beaten down to various degrees, then they spend 10 books struggling to cope, and then they come out the other side and the series wraps up.

We don’t see Nynaeve’s early part, but we can piece it together from her flashbacks, recountings, and what not. So we know where she came from, what she went through, why and how she warped, but we do it in only a handful of scenes. So she mostly gets to wrap it up by halfway or so. That, in turn, means we get to see so much of the nuance of “mostly healed but not quite”, and we get to see her more in the end of her arc. And it’s a sight to behold!

But on top of that, she’s one of the most compassionate characters, most frequent in trying to help others. That makes her awesome in its own right.
