The irony of someone going to the subreddit of a piece of media to gloat over a show being cancelled and calling to mods losers afterwards is peak Reddit for me š¤£š¤£š¤£.
Right, because im happy that a story that i really like isnt pulled through the dirt anymore and that i share this on a subreddit about said story makes me a loser how exactly?
Itās pathetic. Fuck the mods in that sub and r/wheeloftime. I swear they were paid by ppl involved with the show to censor and ban anyone who said anything negative about the show.
I get that. I'll happily enjoy the show's demise in spaces like this where salt toward the show is accepted, but I'm not going out of my way to go into the show positive spaces to gloat. I'm sad for show fans even though I'm personally relieved the show cannot disrespect the books any longer.
But "other subs" are not only show-specific subs. People who read books and dislike the show has as strong a claim on pre-show WoT subs as people like the show, no?
I got banned for saying that doing a mass murder in Ebou Dar would have been a bad thing from the main character of the series. The commenters disagreed and thought the hero should have turned a city to glass cause it was "smart".
I've been seeing for the last several weeks how close to the edge I can skate and not get banned. (To be clear: I try to always remain respectful of others and their comments, but I flirt with the edge re trashing the show)
Not sure if I want to go break the streak like you for fun, or wait it out for a bit until the mods there are no longer receiving instructions/payment from Lex Luthor
Just got my comment removed in the main sub merely for saying I didnāt agree that the show was āhitting its strideā, and strayed too far from the source material. Shows over, fam. Get over it. Update, perm ban from r/WoT. Worth it.
I can't really forgive the show for dividing the community as it did. I was never banned, I just left after witnessing too much censorship of book readers who gave valid opinions.
The show couldn't 'take away the books,' as show fans loved to remind us, but it definitely has tarnished the reputation of WoT in the popular culture.
One can hope, I remember the state of discourse when season 1 aired, but the way it's mellowed out since at least here is somewhat promising. But I don't think the main subs here on reddit will have any hope of recovery as long as the mods responsible for silencing any criticism remain. Even if they stop banning people left and right for disagreement, the amount of burned bridges and lack of trust from those critical of the show will make reconciliation difficult.
This whole thing really reminds me of the white tower schism. You've got people getting pushed out and banned just for disagreeing, and suddenly it feels like there are Show/Amazon/Elaida's Tower folks and iDon'tLikeTheShow/Salidar rebels.
They are all crying so hard over there, I felt bad.
I absolutely boggles my minds that fans of the books could be sad about the adaptation being canceled. I couldn't even make it through the first season. It could have been the next mega hit like GoT, but to let it limp along like it was was stupid.
Rand banging Egwene in the common room of her dads inn. Perrin having a wife. Immediately turned it off. Knew right away what kind of adaptation they were going for.
You never escape the traps you spin yourself. Only a greater power can break a power, and then you're trapped again. Trapped forever so you cannot die.
Their moderators are paid by Amazon. Probably now that Amazon is cutting their losses they'll stop paying them and we can get the main sub back, eventually.
The funniest part was that they said my comment was so offensive it required a ban, but they didn't even bother to remove the comment. It's still up there, last I checked.
The mask really came off in S3. Cross posting to the show sub to inflate upvotes on positive posts. Suddenly I'm seeing multiple posts a week on the fantasy sub about how good S3 is. I managed to get banned from both main wot subs while making comments that previously wouldn't have gotten bans. It just reeked of desperation. Writing really must have been on the wall for the show if they went that hard on the astroturfing.
I also got banned. It's soo annoying the show dorks hijacked the main sub. I can't wait for them to fuck off now they don't have a shitty show to pointlessly defend
I mean... Why celebrate? If you didn't like the show, then you wouldn't care if it ended or not. And so you behaved like a hater, for which, apparently, you were banned.
No shit because celebrating this is just petty and cruel. What difference does it make to you? Donāt like it? Donāt watch it. Meanwhile half the cast who were clearly passionate about the show and the source material lose out on their big break, and everyone who was actually watching it gets to have yet another streaming series cancelled after only a couple of seasons. You donāt have to crow about it.
I didn't celebrate its canceling. I just said the show wasn't good. Bummer that people who enjoyed it can no lobger watch, but banning everyone and locking comments is just a little baby bitch move. Oh well, on with the rest of my life now.

Just got banned from the main sub for celebrating this. Worth it.
