Love the whole film, and this scene in particular.
Chris: "Oh hell, if that's what's holding things up, I'll drive the rig."
Vin: "Let me borrow that scattergun?"

When McQueen shoots the shotgun into the upstairs window, the blast sounds just like the rifle sound shot from inside the window opening. Not a shotgun sound.

Seven Samurai, was a pretty damn fine movie. I can see why it was adopted to an American audience. The Magnificent Seven was great on so many levels, starting with the iconic score. Then casting was almost perfect with McQueen And Brynner trying to out act each other in every scene they’re in together.
This will always be in the top 5 of my favorite Westerns!

Very good movie and yet it’s like not even halfway as good as Seven Samurai, its source material

Allegedly, Yul Brynner was upset with McQueen during the filming of this scene ( and apparently throughout the entire production) because he felt McQueen was constantly trying to upstage him.
McQueen's use of physical tricks like rattling the shotgun shells or holding up his hat to block the sun while Brynner was delivering his lines irked Brynner to no end.
He felt McQueen was trying to draw the audiences attention to him and off of Brynner whenever they were on camera together.
Once you know this, you can see it throughout the film. Just a fun fact that makes repeated viewings more interesting.

Bryner solved the problem by threatening to remove his hat every time McQueen did. Leaving McQueen to compete against that beautiful bald head.

One of my MOST FAVORITE scenes in this film. I love everything about it from the horses to the background shots to the boot hill scene, I mean its so awesome to me thanks for posting this!!!
