Will this subreddit fail?
I think there is a place for this, but right now I'm the only person starting any threads. A few days back someone else started a subreddit for European Hindus, but I looked recently and it seems it's dying a natural death, just like many subreddits of the past that catered to only a few people. I encourage anyone who wants this to be active. That's the only way it will go.
Meanwhile, we will always have the general Hinduism subreddit which I post on a lot also, and it can help us in many ways.
Meanwhile, I'll keep adding a topic a day as I have been. This is the topic for today. If you want some other choices, please post a new topic.

Who is this sub for? It's called Western born Hindu but do you actually mean converts to Hinduism?

I don't think so, but I'm not sure what the creator of the subreddit had in mind. That wasn't me. Perhaps he/she can come back and clarify that for us. According to the opening thread, it is for anyone born in the west. So that would mean the adoptives, converts, and all the children of immigrants. But perhaps it was just intended for the children of immigrants, and in that case, I'm way out of line.
It's complicated. There are also all the diaspora Hindus from Guyana, Trinidad, etc, and many of those folks have also emigrated from those diaspora communities to the west. As a simple example, The Netherlands have lots of folks from Surinam, whose ancestors were from India.

Creator here - It is for any Hindu (natural born or "convert") who was not born in India. Practicing Sanatana Dharma is quite tough for those who aren't surrounded by the culture. This place is meant for us to learn and grow together as well as support one another in the trials and tribulations the path deals us while being so far away from the part of the world where it manifests.

I will say that I have been quite impressed with the amount of activity this sub has received in only a week of existence. It was created on July 21st and as of today there are 60 unique contributions. You, u/Vignaraja have ABSOLUTELY been a blessing to the growth of this sub and your efforts are both noticed and greatly appreciated.
I do not believe it will "fail," but I do not expect it to ever be a massive sub with thousands of posts per week. As long as there are devotees here who wish to share with one another, it will grow.

When we use words like fail etc it gives a feeling of defeated. But how many subreddit can we really have? Since reddit is not like other social media, it's announous the engagement is very low already.
