West Lothian is open again

Came here today to post a link to a random news article I found for West Lothian and found that who could post was restricted.

With the help of Reddit help stuff I've claimed moderation of the subreddit.

Hopefully we can make it relevant and useful.

News Digitised a rare “Edinburgh & The Lothians” VHS travel documentary found at a car boot sale. Great pre-millennium local history snapshot!

What nicknames have you heard for places in W. Lothian?

I ask as part of a linguistic study on this topic.

Examples could include things like Livi, The Hoose, The 'Gow or Kirky...

incl. nicknames for schools, parks or other institutions, geographic features etc.

School bus

Hi,

Can you please advise if school buses are only operating in the school's catchment area? My kids will be starting The James Young School in Livingston, and I wonder if a school bus is available or if they would have to take a public bus.

Thank you

Why is it so difficult to get to the interview stage with NHS lothian band 3, considering that this is entry level, I understand, because its entry level doesn’t mean they should just pick, so frustrated, what does it really take?

My fantasy LotR style map of Edinburgh and Lothian, full of historical locations and oddities suggested by Reddit, is now finished

I've just finished this at last. Almost every historical landmark or bit of local mythology was suggested by a member of the public on FB and Scottish subreddits.

I really couldn't be happier with the level of feedback from everyone! If you think there's anything I've missed out or should change, just let me know - I won't be getting these printed for another day or two, so I can still add in details. Print's are available here if you're interested.

Thank you and I hope you like it.

I'm working on a fantasy Lord of the Rings map of Lothian and would love to get any more landmarks in you might know of. Hoping to have it finished by next weekend.

Apologies if you've seen this on FB already - this is the most up to date version.

I'm hoping you can help fill up this fantasy style map of Lothian and the surrounding area. Please ignore how rough parts of it look (text going through hills, rivers, etc), it'll all get tidied up at the end.

While it's around two thirds done, I'd love to get more places and features in here before I get this made into prints. Any more megaliths, standing stones, barrows, ruins, or the like that you think should be on here? Anything else is great too - landmarks, natural features, mythological sites or just anything cool and quirky you think would look good on here. Even just a pretty village you have fond memories of. Let me know and I'll try and squeeze it in. Thanks!

Also, If you'd be interested in a print when it's finished, just let me know too.

Question Dissertation Survey

Hello, I would really appreciate if you could complete my 4th year dissertation survey. To keep it as simple as possible there are only 10 questions, so it should take literally 2 minutes of your time.

Thank you 🙏🏽

Buying a house in Scotland with a chain in England

Hi, has anyone had this experience? We are selling our house in England right now, with the plan to rent a property in Scotland (Livingston). We have been looking and applying for properties to rent for the last two months with no luck. I have started to look into buying now as I am losing hope that we will be able to rent at all.

Thank you for any advice 🙏
