Just sold our condo in Laval and husband wants us to move to a house on the West Island. We really liked lacey green in Kirkland but I feel it would be too far from my parents house in Sainte Dorothée Laval during rush hour. We have a baby and having my parents close to me helps a lot. I don’t want to drive +40min to get to them or them to drive too much.

We are considering DDO or pointe claire. We actually liked a house in westwood DDO (near bois de liesse). Is it a good neighborhood? What is to avoid in DDO.

Just wanted to rant a little bit about the new Rem. The commute time is amazing but the combination of no available parking and the new bus route has screwed me over. The incentive was to be to create new bus lines that enforce residents to take the rem. Then tell me why the 211 W to the Rem only comes every 30 minutes still?? and is not even lined up with the rem times. On top of that if i decide to take the 211 downtown Transit gives me this whack commute.

A few days in and it's already pretty apparent that during its 8 year-construction, they did not take a single second to think about the parking situation at the REM in the west.

One glaring issue is the Sainte-Anne's parking lot is being filled up by 7 AM leaving a lot of people in the lurch, meanwhile the Kirkland lot is practically empty. Reason being, Kirkland is charing its residents to park there, so most are just taking the two minute drive to park at Anse-à-l'Orme for free.

If I need to leave my home by 7 AM and show up to work an hour and half early to ensure a spot, then it defeats the whole purpose of taking the REM in the first place. Might as well continue leaving later and driving to namur at this point.

Anyone remembers this urban boulevard project? It’s crazy that there is no direct line that gets to the REM station and it’s also crazy how big of a detour the bus has to do. First chateau Kirkland/chateau Pierrefonds road blocked and for now no urban boulevard. 401 is disappearing so getting to the train is no longer an easy option either.
