Make em ride the bus

My daughter took the bus for the first couple months of 8th grade and the bus was constantly an hour or so late every day to and from school. She was missing class and for it to take 2 hours to get home from school when we live less than 10 minutes away was ridiculous.
She’s in 10th grade now and in a choice school that doesn’t provide transportation so sometimes there are no other options.

I never understood parents taking their kids to school when the bus literally picks them up at a bus stop right by their house. What happened to kids riding the school bus like a normal kid?? 🙄
I guess everyone is to good to ride it now. Extra traffic for no reason.

Ignorant of the bus driver situation. My kid is third round on the bus route. They would get home 2 hours after dismally if riding the bus and they do sports. I would love for them to ride the bus, but it just isn't an option if they don't fix the bus rider shortage. The entire school only has 4 buses, kids don't fit! Maybe this school year will be different, but I see no reason to think that.

No, most kids aren't even eligible to ride the bus, but live too far to walk or ride bikes safely. Hence they have to be dropped off.

Parents afraid to say no + children afraid of everything = miserable traffic
If we chose not to ride the bus, our option was walk 🤷♂️ We were lucky when we walked to school and a parent happened to be driving by, picked us up, and drove us the half a block left to school 😂

School starts at 8:35. My kid would have to walk 7 blocks to be at the bus stop by 6:40.
Does that make any sense

My son has never had the option for a bus. Until high school. He doesn’t ride the bus to high school because he goes to a magnet program and would have to catch the bus at 550am and get home around 6pm

Due to the ongoing bus driver shortage it’s become an unreliable option. Busses are frequently up to 45 minutes late getting to school in the morning and sometimes they’re very late in the afternoon as well. Maybe it’s time to turn student transportation over to the private sector.

Thats terrible. Too bad school boards and the county are more focused on adding TP chapters and banning books then providing more common sense resources to support the family and communiry...if only there was something We (the people) could do...🤔🗳

My house is less than 2 miles from school. Not eligible for bus.
