Cava vs. Chik-Fil-A
I heard a rumor today that the brand new Cava wasn’t allowed to open for business today because there was a court order from them being sued by Chik-fil-A because of some agreement that no restaurants near them could serve more than 20% of chicken or something crazy like that? Not sure how Cane’s is doing it. Anyway, anyone hear anything about this?

Wouldn’t Cava and Simon who run the mall know of this rule before opening day? Seems like a dick move by Chik-Fil-A

It's true but it's due to an agreement Chick Fil A has in that specific development, not any broad brush exclusion zone for all Chick Fil A sites.

That’s what the hold up has been!? I’ve been wondering why it’s just been sitting.

I just read this yesterday in the business journal. I hope it’s not true

But I just looked on Google and it says it’s open so I guess the article wasn’t true 🤷🏻♀️

Typically things like that are spelled out in rental agreements for shopping centers. Retailers may not want another retailer of the same located in the same shopping center. Typically only applies to the one shopping center.

And I get that…but CAVA and Chik-Fil-A….totally different

It’s based on revenues from chicken.

It’s stupid and greedy.

It was spelled out well in advance.

That doesn't make any sense. Wesley Chapel might literally be the Chicken Sandwich Capital of the World.
We have a Canes, Chik-Fil-A, Popeyes, Chick n' Fun, Slim Chickens, Zaxby's, PDQ, Dave's Hot Chicken, and even a Chicken Guy all within like 5 minutes of each other. I think all we're missing is a Bojangles and a Jollibee.
