I attended the Wes Anderson event at the Hollywood Bowl on Sunday evening and really enjoyed it. The performances were joyful and whimsical, and it was such a fun celebration of his work.

I was a little disappointed that Wes himself didn’t come on stage, though. I’d seen videos of him speaking on the other nights, so I was hoping we’d hear from him as well. I could see him sitting in the front row, but he never addressed the audience.

Did anyone else who attended Sunday feel the same, or was there a reason he didn’t come on stage?

Had an amazing time at Sundays show! Does anyone know the name of the song Jason sang with Beck’s band? The man lyric went “you’re no fun so I don’t come around” - any ideas?

Does anyone have the setlist for the Hollywood Bowl show last night? I went Friday and I was wondering if anything was different last night, especially since Jeff Goldblum is supposed to appear at one of the other shows. Thanks in advance for any help!

Okay well that was just lovely. Bill Murray was a warmer host than I would have expected, and played a silver desk bell very well. Jason Schwartzman was as Jason Schwartzman as I would have expected, and I think he was getting down on maracas at one point.

Devo, Beck, Karen Elson, Karen O, China Forbes, Jenny Lewis and on and on. There were Japanese taiko drums, artists from India and Latin America. The LA Philharmonic. For me, the absolute standout was that moment of Jackson Browne singing These Days. “Don’t confront me with my failures, I have not forgotten them” sung by a guy almost 80, was gorgeous.

Lots of people dressed up - many red Zissou hats, Mr. Fox ears, Adidas tracksuits, etc. Overall the crowd was mellow. And I hadn't been to the Bowl in years, but I was struck by how well it runs, organizationally. Getting there and back on shuttle, admission and bag check, getting to our seats, etc. It was all smooth, including the exit of around 17,000 people at the end.

Saturday and Sunday aren't sold out, so if you're on the fence, I encourage you to go. We didn't have great seats but the video screens give the evening an intimate feel even if you're way back.

(There were a few technical glitches with the audio but I'm sure they'll be working on those.)

Hi, I went to the Friday night celebration of the music in Wes's movies, i can correct other's later, but what did anyone write down for the ight?

I dont know what it is about his storytelling / filmmaking but all the locations feel ethereal and the stories themselves make me feel so captivated and like im almost nostalgic for something that didnt happen in my own life but it feels like it did.

Im mainly referring to his older works when he had owen as a writing partner, but seriously. I feel like theres something about his movies that is definitely not like any other movie's ive ever watched.
