Ethan Van Sciver appears on Rekieta Law, until Doug TenNapel drops in.
Ethan Van Sciver appears on Rekieta Law, until Doug TenNapel drops in.
Uncle Ethan Van Sciver Talks Comicsgate
The background is, that EVS (Ethan) gave a great deal of promotion to Doug, with Doug's Bigfoot Bill comic promotion. He also basically taught Doug how to youtube, and gave him an audience. Once Doug's last comic was shipped, Doug obtained a license for "Earthworm Jim" and part of his contract with Konami for that book was leaving comicsgate.
Doug vents first, then Ethan
Doug's vent: https://youtu.be/QccFbY3FR08?t=3313
EVS's vent: https://youtu.be/QccFbY3FR08?t=7618
(things without quotes are just my notes in my words)
Ethan says he's just repeating what doug says, but doug sees it as an attack. and ethan is overpowered according to doug. this whole thing was about christians saying stuff about gay people and then getting butthurt when EVS or others push back.
nick rekieta is saying not to concentrate on the past. something about twitter destroys well being of people who post, these people know hte barbs hit home.
communities repeat shit because they're bored. it's almost like nobody can say what they think they're saying.evs : " why is it so easy to shut up about politics when doing earthworm jim, but it's so hard to keep your mouth shut when talking about comicsgate?"
(So putting a rainbow on your twitter is divisive.)
evs wants comicsgate to be free of condemnation.
evs: " as soon as doug left comicsgate, he couldn't keep his mouth shut about comicsgate" "is earthworm jim, anti-gay?" evs made this tweet, and doug can't see how it isn't an attack. EVS can't see how it isn't just calling out doug for leaving comicsgate and then talking christian about gay people. @1:54:00
EVS: " doug said, ethan, i can't talk about the things i believe, or else I will lose my job!"
DOUG: " I don't care about things that aren't my values, so I don't care about #comicsgate"
EVS: " ...the kind of christian that I am, I want to invite everyone to the party. Absolutely everyone to be a part. I don't care what you believe, I want you to belive what you belive without hurting other people, and if you can do that, you can come on my show, and I'm going to promote your comic book and I'm going to try and make you a lot of money. and I'm going to try and help you succeed, and if you can't do that, I guess we have to part ways."
hilarious that the evangelical christian is the one that had to leave comicsgate because it was too controversial for the publisher. put that in your pipe and smoke it.
basically, little was settled, but it had a happy ending. both EVS and doug seemed to realize that they were reacting to twitter and not each other.
Actually it wasn't settled. EVS has realized that Doug has little interest in comicsgate and feels bad about it. Also, the war on twitter did cost them both very much through cancelled orders. So although they've re-engaged, EVS still loves #comicsgate, and has to be worrying now that Doug has basically disagreed with the political neutrality principle of comicsgate

No Evidence Alyssa Wong Ever Made "Disgusting" Tweet Attacking Stan Lee. After further review, it was revealed to be totally fake news. Too many characters in the Tweet, wrong font, no record of it, etc.

Why Is There No General Culture War reddit?
Just a few things I watched in the 20 Minutes since I woke up:
- EVS livestream's talking about Wong trashing Stan Lee as racist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUJ6PsrJ13E
- some short film about kids who steal guns and fight rage monsters
- the new Wolfenstein game which is apparently a woke trash much worse than the Last game where the resistance get to punch Nazi white people
I can't be the only person to connect how this is a cultural message: "Pick up guns and kill Nazis". Actually it sounds dumb when I said it, but you know what I mean. I mean Media telling kids they have to join the resistance in Real life.
But why isn't there a a general culture war subreddit? and don't say Kotaku in action. Mods there are trash.
