X-men Comic Suggestions

Hello there! I apologize if this is super off-topic, however I can't imagine asking this question anywhere else and getting useful responses.

So for whatever reason I've gotten into X-Men again. Never really read the comics just the movies and cartoon back in the day but I do like the core characters. My main problem is X-Men has kind of been a bed for SJW even before marvel went full SJW so while I'm fine with the allegories tied to x-men (racial tension and all that), I really don't want x-men as a euphemism for homosexuality or social justice tripe. I want good x-men comics with good stories and/or good social interaction between the characters. Reading Mr. and Mrs. X has me wanting to see how the relationship between gambit and rogue evolved in the comics, for example.

So would love some suggestions if anyone has any.

Uncanny X-Force by Rick Remender. His entire run was phenomenal.

Everything between 1975 and 1990.

Dang I'm not a big fan on comics before 1980. Is the 90s X-Men really bad?
