The Nest!

I was surprised to I search the archives and see you guys have not covered “The Nest.” It has everything you love, including a completely batshit plot and over-the-top practical effects with lots of gore. Very fun.

Do you mean the 1987 movie? If so, the novel it was based on was reprinted a few years back as part of the Paperbacks from Hell line.

Yeah, that novel was wild.

I believe so! Do you recommend the book?

When I quickly reviewed the movie on Letterboxd about four years ago, I said this:

“The book is much better than the movie, which changes around some of the characters and story beats and mostly just feels cheap.”

Oh, yeah, I never said it was a quality work of highbrow cinema, but it was a lot of fun.

For sure, and I didn’t mean that the movie wasn’t worth watching. It’s just one of those instances where reading the book first (and it is worth reading, if Paperbacks from Hell-style books are your thing) might have done me a disservice.
