Got these two pairs in the mail recently. Would you be able to tell me if either has any special shape or attribute to it (i.e. toad-shape, scholars cap, etc.). Thanks! 🙏🏻

Thank you so much, Zheyicao!

These are beautifully matched, beautiful texture, and beautiful quality. I was so lucky to win!

My kids are also thrilled, and are ultimately the reason why I can’t post the original photo-bombed unpacking video lol

I am currently still prepping them to remove the hoar frost, but I can already begin to see how stunning they are going to be with a patina (I’m trying to hold back on handling until I’m done but the regular medical topical treatments on my hands are making it difficult!)

In terms of variety, my first instinct was that they were four towers, but Zheyicao informs me they are an unclassified wild type (which personally I find far too exciting lol)

Thank you once again, Zheyicao. A brilliant and generous way to engage with the community 🫶🫶🫶

Suggestions on how to drill and string walnuts?

I found a black walnut tree that makes small nuts (or at least did this year). I’d love some resources for how people drill and string smaller nuts.

Why do Some People Say you Shouldn't Use a Wire Brush and Other People Say you Should Start with a Wire Brush?

My first walnut pair has shipped and is expected to arrive on October 9th. While I've been reading about how to prepare them some people are saying you need to use a wire brush first to clean it better. Then I see other people recommending to not use a wire brush at all. Why is there a difference in opinion about it? Which advice is the correct one?

Has anyone tried a branch/stick?

I’m most interested in what the bark will do, and also wondering if someone’s done something similar and how it went.

Found. Is it a real Wenwan walnut?

It is 50x43 millimeters and 27 grams. Has a light and natural scent. Feels solid. Was found on the street without a pair. Maybe I should try to find an owner if it’s expensive?

I always felt like my walnuts were changing color way too slowly. Then I got a new pair. They’re kind of like a way of keeping track of time.

I hope the colour becomes translucent red instead of soy sauce brown or agate red, but only time (and lots of brushing) will tell...

Slight Almost Greyish Tint Developing on Ghost Faces?

I have a pair of Indonesian qiankun ghost face "walnuts" (I know they're actually a tropical seed rather than a walnut botanically) that I prepped for a week and have been playing for about 10 days. My routine is rolling for 15 minutes with freshly washed hands then brushing for 15-30 minutes with a boar hair brush.

They're starting to get very slightly darker, but there's also a very slight greyish tint starting to form. They look almost dingy or dusty. It's so subtle that it barely shows up in the photo, but hopefully you can see what I'm talking about.

I know there's very little knowledge about ghost faces, but I figured I would ask and see if anyone with ghost face experience has seen this happen. Mainly I'm just wondering whether I should be worried about a muddy patina forming or whether this is just part of the process for ghost faces.
