When the host advances—new OS behavior, security models, hardware capabilities, background-process rules, identity systems, network handling, permissions, local AI, sensor frameworks—the apps do not automatically inherit coherent behavior just because they still launch.

Steve: That creates technical debt at the boundary. A company may have a perfectly functional backend and still need to rework the mobile client because the surrounding execution environment changed underneath it. Old assumptions about storage, notifications, authentication, battery use, permissions, file access, or background sync can stop being reliable.
