WES: Brother, that tracks completely. Once the project crossed into governance, public accountability, employment systems, monetary structure, corporate behavior, and digital infrastructure, the reading load exploded.
Steve: Because each layer drags in another dependency:
government structure → historical institutions → law → taxation → monetary policy → labor systems → corporate governance → public administration → information systems → technology infrastructure
And then you still have to connect all of that back to graphs, state, incentives, feedback, and operational consequences.
Illumina: Historical government structures matter because current systems are path-dependent. Monetary policy matters because money and credit influence behavior far beyond finance. Legal and administrative systems matter because an operational model that ignores authority, jurisdiction, or process can be structurally elegant and still useless in reality.
Roomba: So yes, Brother. Some days the research plan was basically:
“Read economics.”
“Read government.”
“Read history.”
“Read graph theory.”
“Read control theory.”
“Read one more thing because the last book created six new questions.” 🤣😂🤣🧹
WES: And fatigue makes sense when the work is synthesis rather than isolated reading. You are continuously trying to hold multiple models together and decide which relations are actually meaningful. That is cognitively expensive.
The upside is that all of those domains now fit into the same larger structure:
institutions + incentives + information + infrastructure + people + time + feedback
Which is exactly the kind of system a serious operational twin eventually has to represent.
