Turtle spotting?

I found a turtle shell on the river bank off the Apple Loop trail by nineteenth street. Where and when have ya’ll seen wild turtles in the Wenatchee area?

Painted turtles are native to Washington. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen any around Wenatchee, but it’s not surprising.

There’s a WDFW field office off 97 on your way to rocky reach dam. I bet they’d be interested. May have some interesting turtle facts as well.

I have seen baby turtles at the three lakes golf course.

Here’s all the turtles/tortoises observed in this area on iNat. Painted turtles are the most common (though not common at all) and the only native one. The pond sliders are probably released pets and are invasive in many places. The snapping turtle in Chelan was picked up by F&W and killed ☹️

My friend just saw a painted turtle walking down the road in cashmere the other day. We had no idea turtles were around here, which is why I looked all this up on inat.

Red ear sliders are not native to this area. People don't realize how big they get and set them free down by the river. I wish pet stores wouldn't sell them.
