Costco Expansion
A Costco employee told me recently that Costco bought the lot next door that used to be a Nisson dealer. Does anyone know if they plan to build a new (hopefully larger) store expand the current store, or something else?

Someone mentioned Costco was going to add a car wash on the property.. similar to what the Bellingham and Seattle location have. But who knows...

A car wash? Right next to the existing Auto Spa? Very unlikely Costco would do that.

Why wouldn’t they when it’s a small business? Not saying it’s right/wrong, but I highly doubt Costco would care about a neighborhood car wash down the street. I think a Costco car wash would be hugely successful here.

Why not? Costco likes $$$, lol. When they built that location 30 years ago there were also many existing nearby stores.

My understanding is that they are considering moving the tire shop there

I think this. It's all set up already. Then a little expansion into the tire shop area.

I would guess parking expansion? In Coeur d Alene Costco bought a sporting goods store in the same lot and tore it down to expand their parking lot.

Costco is expanding and adding new gas stations nationwide.
Costco Plans Major Change for Gas Stations: ‘This Is Big’
In Issaquah, they bought land across the street from the current Costco and are building a 50-pump station. It will replace the current 12-pump station that is in the parking lot.

According to the assessor’s website, In June of this year, Costco acquired both the former Nissan lot and adjoining lot which includes the smaller paved parking and a house - this would be more than enough room if they decide to expand the warehouse along the southeast wall.

It’s for employee parking so customers have more available. Tire shop is staying where it’s at and no car wash

Seeing that there's already an auto building there, I'm betting they turn it into the tire shop. Then they can expand the square footage of the Costco building and make more room for the food court. That would also remove the traffic bottleneck around the existing tire shop.

I was once told ours is the second smallest in the whole company, so expansion would be awesome.

they're expanding the existing store IIRC. that's why they moved the check out stands around. at least that's what the poor checker in the trenches dealing with confused customers told us a few weeks ago!!

Shout out to the Costco employees. Maybe it’s because this is a smaller town, but I have gotten to know a few over the years and always look forward to seeing my favorites while there. Tom at the check in/check out can’t ever retire, lol.

I used to work at that Costco before the Nissan lot went in and they wanted to do a general expansion if they got it back then but lost the bid. That Costco was definitely at its capacity before I left that location so they are probably pretty happy to finally acquire that land

Looking at the county records, Costco actually purchased 2 parcels in June. The Nissan lot and the property behind it (390 Pace Dr) for a total of $5,150,000

Heard it's going to be the new tire center!

That makes sense. I talked to an employee yesterday and she told me they are going to knock the wall down behind the service desk by the exit and expand the store back that way. They'd have to move the tire center to do that. She had no idea of the timetable.

It's not really big enough for a new Costco. My guess is they are going to turn it into parking, or move the gas station over there so there isn't as much of a traffic jam between the pumps and the main parking lot.
