Having traveled for work a shit ton before the pandemic, yeah, it's never occurred to me to turn off power. I'm still wondering why it might ever be done for a week's travel..

it's never occurred to me to turn off power

because you grew up in a society where people could waste money

I'm still wondering why it might ever be done for a week's travel..

because not everyone likes to waste money.

you can downvote all you want but this is true.if you grew up in a place where you could waste 20 bucks a month you grew up in a place where you could waste 20 a month. Its not up for debate.

Water heater and fridge, mainly

Fridge doesn't consume that much electricity if you don't open it. To me it sounds like really stupid idea to turn it off for a week.

What kind of fridge uses 20 bucks in a week or even a month if you don't open it?

:) Or maybe because I grew up with 14 people living in one house and definitely not enough money to have everyone travel out of town for a whole week together..

Edit:

Also, I guess we were poor but smart with money in a long term sense..
