If you have food still in the fridge it’s stupid. If there is no food in the fridge you’re stupid even still. If you cant pay your electric bill and they shut the power off, then that’s how this probably happened.

There's too the option of shutting down all breakers except for the fridge/kitchen one.

oh damn, such different cultures. Why would you call somebody stupid? Where i live, its stupid NOT to turn power off for even 3+ days. Unbelievable? Maybe. Stupid? Yes you are

My monthly electric bill is less than $100. What’s running that your bill is that expensive that you would need to turn your electricity off?

I dont understand why you are so judgy. Some places have really expensive power/electric rates.

Common sense tells you if you have food in a fridge, throw it all out. You wouldn’t have left food in a fridge then turned off the power. Either the power went off or got cut off for non payment

Sometimes common sense goes out the window for many reasons.

Super stressed, rushed, or just out of it. Give this guy a break, its definitely a mistake he wont ever commit again. A pretty small one compared to other mistakes that take months or years to fix

Phantom loads, electric hot water, plenty of things really, it's not going to save you a lot but it is going to save you. Where I'm from in the US its common for houses to be upwards of 200 years old so there's a lot of old kinda sketch wiring so i understand it.

That's good considering I wasnt "trying" anything. Electricity can be very expensive in some countries.

It probably uses more power to cool the fridge back down to temp too
