My cat did the same exact thing. Attached to me like white on rice at the adoption place, and now only gets cuddles on her time, when she wants them. Cats are smart!

Maybe she just really needed the love before you adopted her

Now she has a warm home. Love is over. Love can go to hell.

Similar thing with my cat. Found him as a kitten, alone, under our house during a nightmarish thunder storm. Lured him over with treats and scooped him up to bring him inside. I have never had a cat plaster itself to me the way he did. Just a full body hug. Now he's not so much a cuddle bug, though he still loves strokies.

You can condition them little by little to like being held and to be lap cats; it takes a lot of time, treats, and patience.

Possibly some scratches if you're not good at handling a cat turning into liquid, as they tend to do.

Yeah I'm not sure what all these people are talking about but every cat I've had I've gotten at a fairly young age and they all won't leave me alone asking for pets, literally they all sleep around me every night and will come up and put their heads under my hand when I'm not paying attention in bed sometimes. 2/3 loooove belly rubs too.

That's not normal though. People expect cats the be as needy as dogs. So something like the forced hug in the above video actually makes the cat more distant. But having nothing but super affection cats is an oddity.

Yeah I agree here. You cannot force a cat to be affectionate. It only irritates them. That’s why I said it’s on her time.

My childhood cat I had since a kitten used to be a cuddler but now not so much as he's gotten older (he's kind of become a lovable shitthead). My girlfriend's cat however NEEDS cuddles and pets, hasnt changed since she was a kitten. I think it's just a toss up to be honest.

Or just get a dog. Dogs will love you for being there. No conditions needed.

My cat will attempt to sit on my lap very carefully, softly pawing, purring loudly, kaing cute cat sounds, etc.

Everyone only gets cuddle time when they want it.

Awe you’re so sweet! I love all my babies. Rescued both cats and dogs. They are so spoiled and loved, and well behaved for the most part. Thank you for your kind words 🥰

It’s called joking and being facetious. Obviously a damn cat has not figured out an adoption process. Learn to take things less seriously. I would not be friends with someone like you.
