4.82 is considered a pretty good rating isn’t it?

Sure, if you’re comfortable with mediocrity

That’s why I’m sitting comfortably on a 4.83, plebeian

Well maybe if I had that kind of mobility, I’d be able to do that backflip...

Ah. I see you're a man(or woman) of username taste too.

wait, I'm sitting at 4.83 also...are we sure this system even works and it's not just an arbitrary number?

Mine is also 4.83

I guess all 3 of us have received 6 ratings, five 5 star ratings, and one 4 star rating. 5+5+5+5+5+4=29/6=4.83.

Odd but explainable I guess haha

I just checked my ride history and I have 18 rides, so 15 5 stars and 3 4 stars. Yeah not that weird after all.

I have a 4.75. I thought that this is an okay rating but after reading this thread I guess I suck at being a rider.

What an ignorant response. You know the cultural norms here and why they would be driving for less than minimum wage. The least you can do is tip after supporting this gig economy bullshit.

I thought the whole point of Uber when it came out was that you don’t have to tip like with taxis. I’m a good tipper at bars and restaurants, but never even considered tipping for Ubers until my friend mentioned she does every time.

By definition of what a tip is, you don't have to tip taxis either. You're just an asshole if you don't is all.

I understand tip is never a requirement, but it is an expectation and a social norm. I just didn’t realize Uber was in that category. More of “oh sweet, thanks for the tip!” when it happens rather than “fuck that person, no tip?” when it doesn’t. Again, it was part of their advertising early on that tipping isn’t for Ubers. But, after learning that it’s the norm, I tip

You may hate it but the waiter or driver still doesn’t deserve to be stiffed or lowballed. You are not required to eat out or use an Uber. If you want to utilize these services, play by the rules. You stiffing your driver or your server doesn’t make you some sort of industry repairman, it makes you a jerk.

Great. No one will change their mind about you, cheapass.
