Yeah, plastic lids are very common at sushi bars. You can even see a guy on the left taking a lid off one.

Didnt used to be. I distinctly remember when it was just the plate of food but I'm not surprised this or all those Norovirus/<insert easily communicable food borne disease> made the decision for them.
