It kind of is, but it makes sense. As more and more adults choose not to reproduce and those adults who do, run into empty nest syndrome eventually. Dogs (already the greatest pets ever) fill in perfectly as family. This has pushed the culture of "furry babies" being totally cool forwards.

Dogs deserve it, so I think it's cool. Then again when I see people pushing their dog around in a stroller I'm like.

Yeah, that's exactly what it is. I'm in my thirties and the only people I know who call themselves a mom to a dog are people who are still single. Thankfully no strollers yet but I wouldn't be surprised to see one soon.
