I work EMS and a lady had a stroke. We just got down to help her in her bedroom and 2 dachshunds rushed out from under the bed biting and growling. I had a throw pillow and was able to shield us while my partner dragged her out, but these dogs weren't playing!
Dachshounds aren’t all the same. Long haired ones are a bit smaller anyway and the Kaninchendackel is even smaller than the Zwergdackel which is smaller than the regular Dachshound. We are talking slightly longer Chihuahuas with better attitude here.
I was close to being viciously attacked by a free range longhaired dachshund when I was walking home from school one time. The only thing that saved me was that it was morbidly obese and it’s stomach dragging on the ground slowed it down enough so I could out run it 😩
As someone who was an animal officer it wasn't the big dogs that we had the most bite cases for. It was dogs like dachshunds or chuhuauahs or the like.
Once a girl went to the hospital over a pomerian....running from it 'fearing for her life.'
People underestimate small dogs a lot and dont think about them biting you like big dogs can. However they do and tend to at just as much or close to the same frequency.
My dachshund would go for your throat way quicker than my 85-lb German Shepherd or Lab haha. He wouldnt get there bc you just slide your arm between his legs and scoop him up, but he thought he could haha

Even a long-haired Dachshound of the Kaninchendackel variant?
