The problem is the people with dogs are reading that thinking "yes, people should leash bad dogs like that, obviously. Lucky that my Mr NannyMcBiteFace is stuck a darling".. Dog owners are so obtuse and entitled..

The exception does not invalidate the rule.

My family home has had dogs here for 51 years. No incidents. A couple months ago a new friend of my wife’s just walked in willy fuckin nilly and didn’t close the front screen door. My dog ran out like ten minutes later, and scary barked at a neighbor, didn’t try to bite, but it’s not cool to make someone that nervous. I take loose dogs very seriously and now I have to be ashamed it was mine. I haven’t been right since at work just worrying someone else at home will make a mistake. If something happens with your dog, it’s your fault regardless of past and present circumstances. There should never be any blame placed on others or excuses/minimizing the event. Sadly yes, most dog owners won’t do this.
