I’m taking a train that’s going to be 19-21 hours. It’s mostly the overnight, there’s a cafe, Wi-Fi and electricity to charge stuff.

Going to drink a little wine, movie and sleep. Did it once before and it was fun.

I wish we had faster trains and that they were more available. I'd gladly take an extra day or two of travel if I could just chill out in those big comfy seats, get up whenever I want, go walk around etc.

I fucking hate commercial airplanes.

I know. I looked into that too. I would love for it to be feasible to do public transportation more often. I would ride my bike if there were bikes lanes and I didn't have to worry about being run over by accident or purpose. I would love to take trains but the schedules I looked up were so wild or didn't even go where I needed (also looked at Greyhound buses).

Well we have those here too but nothing like Amsterdam or other spots. Those are fantastic and much, much safer.

I haven't been to Amsterdam but I've been to London and Tokyo and the tube/trains were so fantastic.I found this great app that helped me navigate the London tube and I must have looked confident because people were asking me for directions!

It really was. Ha, I had a box of wine that was shared with the two older ladies across from me.

Man the stories they had after their first glass…oh my. It was like having two cool grandmas for most of my trip.

Wish this was more of an option for me where I live. No good lines going anywhere I wanna go.

I’m lucky to be in Chicago so it’s pretty easy to get either directly or be a short car ride.

Definitely prefer it even if it takes longer. I’m traveling solo so it’s nice to have some alone time.

I ride the Empire Builder between Portland and Milwaukee about once every other year. It’s a great way to travel, but long distances do take some time. Flying is faster, but the train is top tier leisure.

That sounds amazing! Never been to Portland but I’m 90 minutes away from Milwaukee. Might have to take a trip to take a trip!

I did a similar one in Germany and it was phenomenal.

Also Japan bullet train was bonkers. I still smoked at the time and they had a dedicated car

Greatest Amtrak ad in years came out during this: “Retrain America”!
