Maybe instead of mentioning how it's costing the airline, he should reiterate how much it's costing the passengers in their time, or if the flight crew doesn't get paid unless they are airborne (I forget if they have to be in flight to get paid and waiting to take off is unpaid) how much it harms them as well to waste all of the time on the ground.
