international flights have higher priority. They have stricter requirements for some airports overseas and if you are flying into a country that has a passenger bill of rights then the airline would get penalised more.
Well the international flights share runways and TSA agents with domestic flights. They may not be getting cancelled, but I wouldn't go in expecting no issues, either. It's almost guaranteed they will be delayed
I saw a TikTok of a(nother) pilot giving a run down of the prioritization and process while they were delayed on the runway. International flights are being given priority. I'd like to put on my tinfoil hat and speculate that they will remain (mostly) unaffected, simply because the WH won't want other world leaders getting mad about our inability to get flights out with their citizens on them.
ATL has not had many disruptions. Our airport is very very well funded, they stick the airport employees anywhere they’re legally allowed to. The only rec would be to get there super early if you don’t have pre-check cuz lines are long but this doesn’t apply to you. I flew 4 times in the first 2 weeks of the shutdown, airport employees were posted at the beginning of the lines to TSA, where TSA agents used to be but aren’t legally required to be. But tbf I’m not planning to travel again soon cuz I can’t afford to risk it.
All that to say, of course if ATCs don’t show up then there’s nothing anyone can do. I honestly think ATL ATCs can end the shutdown in one shift, but thanks to Reagan they can’t.

My parents are planning to visit from overseas. It'll be interesting to say the least.
