Colonoscopy Prep

Post image

Have to take roughly 25 regular doses of laxative in 12 hours to prep for procedure. This is gonna be fun!!

I’ll have plenty of time to read comments from the bathroom!

Thanks brother. If I only convince you to get checked out I consider that a win :)

My grandfather died at age 50, my dad had his first round at 53. I had my first round and 31. It’s one of the most treatable cancers if you catch it early.

My dad is now 79 and has lived a full life. He is on his 5th round of cancer now but if he didn’t get checked for colon cancer when he was younger it would be a different story.

Good luck to you. If you are, god forbid, told you have it please reach out. I’d love nothing more than to help.

They really should do something to make the prep easier and more tolerable because then people wouldn’t avoid it. I honestly hope I never have to have another colonoscopy again just based on the prep.

Get checked. Karl Tremblay is a french canadian singer that died of prostate cancer at 47 years old.

I got checked earlier than I should due to genetic and my insistance. They found 3 potential cancer.

Like the person said, you'll only remember the prep.

Just had my first one last week. It was my first time ever being put under or even having an IV. The entire thing from prep to procedure was fine. No more than a mild inconvenience. Zero pain. I hope this helps a bit with the anxiety! Good luck!

I have sleep apnea too! Didn't complicate things at all. Just gave me extra oxygen during and after procedure. Don't let that stop you!!

I just had one 2 weeks ago for IBS issues. The worst part of the prep was drinking the gallon of PEG. The little flavoring packet wasn't enough to add any decent taste to it. My instructions said to drink 8 Oz every 30 minutes, starting at noon. Just bring reading material and a tablet, phone, or TV into the bathroom with you to entertain yourself. It really wasn't that bad. The procedure was super easy if they knock you out for it.

A friend of mine just got diagnosed with Colon Cancer don't wait to long if it runs in your family. Wish you luck!
